The museum is located on the east side of the City of Derby.

TRAVEL  DIRECTIONS

Coming from the North or South

  • Approach Derby on the M1, leave M1 at exit 25
  • Take A52 signposted Derby (heading West)
  • Stay on the A52 dual carriageway until you arrive at a traffic island.
  • Keep in the right-hand lane, go round the island take the 4th major exit (ignore the entrance into the Cricket Ground. You will go almost right around the traffic island.
  • Follow local instructions below

Coming from the East

 

  • Approach Derby from Nottingham on the A52
  • Stay on the A52 dual carriageway until you arrive at a traffic island.
  • Keep in the right-hand lane, go around the island take the 4th major exit (ignore the entrance into the Cricket Ground. You will go almost right around the traffic island.
  • Follow local instructions below

 

Coming from the West

  • If coming on the A50 from Stoke leave the A50 at the Toyota car factory then approach Derby on the A38
  • If coming from Birmingham stay on A38
  • When the A38 meets the Derby Ring road A5111, take the first exit left onto the A5111 signposted M1 North
  • At the next traffic island (Esso Petrol Station) take the 2nd exit (straight over) remaining on the A5111.
  • After 3 miles at the next traffic island turn right (3rd exit) signposted A61 Derby City Centre
  • Straight over the next three traffic islands staying on the A61
  • After passing the Racecourse and cricket ground on your left, approach the Pentagon Traffic island
  • Keep in the left-hand lane, go around the island take the 1st major exit (ignore the entrance into the Cricket Ground.
  • Follow local instructions below

Local Directions:

  • Leave Pentagon Island on the old Nottingham Road (sign posted Chaddesdon)
  • Drive approx. 0.25 mile
  • See large blue building “Hillside Leisure” on your right
  • Immediately after the blue building turn right into Sawley Park (enter through large blue gates that should be open)
  • Our building is the 3rd detached building on the right with a large 16 on the front.  The antennas and CCTV are a quite visible.
  • Car parking at the front and side of the building.
  • Please ring the doorbell as the front door is kept locked.
